The biggest game-changer is keeping a puppy on a leash until they potty before letting them off to roam free in the yard or in the house (or even before taking them for a walk).
Deal Train her to “stay”: This is probably the most difficult of all commands for a puppy to learn, so I would not recommend you use it more than once during each short training session. (Unlike sit, which you can do over and over). When the puppy is sitting in front of you with his leash attached, put your hand in his face, say “stay” in a firm voice, and then move back a step or two (while you are stepping down on the leash). If the puppy stays, call him immediately and give him a treat and lots of praise!

You should start disciplining your puppy as soon as you bring it home. Puppies learn quickly and should be shown what behavior is unacceptable in your house. This also means that you must be consistent when responding to bad behavior. If not, your puppy will be confused, making it harder to prevent the bad behavior.[1]

Dog training can be socialisation to the domestic environment, basic obedience training or training for specialized activities including law enforcement, search and rescue, hunting, working with livestock, assistance to people with disabilities, entertainment, dog sports, detection and protecting people or property.

There are a variety of established methods of animals training, each with its adherents and critics. Some of the better known dog training procedures include the Koehler method, clicker training, motivational training, electronic training, model-rival training, dominance-based training, and relationship-based training. The common characteristics of successful methods are knowing the animal's attributes and personality, accurate timing of reinforcement and/or punishment and consistent communication. The use of punishment is controversial with both the humaneness and effectiveness questioned by many behaviourists.

As a dog training strategy, purely positive training is feasible, but difficult, as it requires time and patience to control the rewards the dog receives for behavior. Some activities such as jumping up or chasing squirrels are intrinsically rewarding, the activity is its own reward, and with some activities the environment may provide reinforcement such as when the response from dog next door encourages barking.[58]

Please find safe ways to exercise your puppy too! As your puppy’s pack leader, you must help to expend their energy in a productive way. For all dogs, this means a daily walk.

Alarm barking is very similar to territorial barking in that it’s triggered by sights and sounds. However, dogs who alarm bark might do so in response to things that startle or upset them when they’re not on familiar turf. For example, a dog who barks territorially in response to the sight of strangers approaching will usually only do so when in his own home, yard or car. By contrast, a dog who habitually alarm barks might vocalize when he sees or hears strangers approaching in other places, too. Although territorial barking and alarm barking are a little different, the recommendations below apply to both problems.

The doorbells rings, and Fluffy immediately starts barking to ward off the intruder. Except the intruder is actually your mother-in-law, who now is judging you by your dog’s behavior. If you’re familiar with this scenario, you can stop your pup’s behavior by using a whistle to help you train her.

  8. 13 Ways to Keep Your Pet Safe Outdoors
If you have a backyard dog toilet area, in addition to the indoor playroom toilet, take your pup to his outdoor toilet in the yard whenever you release him from his doggy den. If you live in an apartment and do not have a yard, teach your puppy to use his indoor toilet until he is old enough to venture outdoors at three months of age.
Build the relationship & trust between dog & handler
Carry a handful of treats (or one of these convenient treat pouches).  Walk around your yard, giving a treat to your dog while you’re walking every few steps. Give the treat down at your side, by your thigh. The idea is to convey ‘being right here next to mama when she’s walking means I get treats!’ Otherwise, completely ignore your dog. If he moves off and reaches the end of the leash, just stop walking until you get enough slack in the line to keep moving.

I take her to where I want her to go and she just lies down I tried this for over an hour and half and only when she’s off leash will she go. This involved me going back inside and back out when she’s giving cues she needs to go.

  10. There are so many varieties and styles of leashes on the market these days. So how do you know which one is best for your active dog? Here are a few ways to make a better-informed decision. And, because many dog owners also buy a collar (or harness) when they choose their leash, we’ll take a look at those, as well.

Step 4: Increase Your Distance From the Crate
When your dog automatically turns his attention to you in response to your cue when confronted with major real-life distractions, you have a valuable tool for interrupting his barking. Be sure you practice occasionally with mild distractions to keep the cue “tuned up”, and remember to thank him and tell him what a wonderful dog he is when he stops barking on your request.

Introducing your puppy to his collar, leash and the stairs can be a challenge. If your puppy is trained properly, it will be simple, satisfying and successful. Always use praise and lures rather than force.
This 6-week group class expands on lessons learned in Level 1, phases out the use of lures so you can have a well-mannered puppy all the time and introduces fun activities to help keep your puppy’s mind active!
    4. Be Persistent – continue firmly with your potty training your puppy in spite of any difficulty. At times it may seem like your puppy just does not get it, but don’t waver and be persistent. It took our Aussie mix, Linus less than 2 weeks before he was potty trained. It took about 6 months to fully trust Stetson with his potty training. Stay persistent!
    Working Dogs
Avoid pulling your hand away when your puppy nips. Your puppy will see this as part of the game and will continue to chase you.
